Nestas e nas seguintes naus veio uma fidalguia lusitana vocacionada para as artes taurinas e um povo inteiro ligado ao culto do Espírito Santo. Por isso o Toiro, a Tourada à Corda e a Corrida de Praça foram introduzidos durante o povoamento da ilha que finalizou em 1534, altura em que Angra é cidade, a Praia e S. Sebastião são vilas há muito, e o povo terceirense é reconhecido pela sua vocação especial para as artes taurinas por «costume e compromisso antigos». </ins></div></td></tr>
